WELCOME TO THRU-HIKE FOR A CURE
In 2003, Daniel Potter was preparing physically, mentally, and emotionally to tackle one of the greatest accomplishments of his life – completing a Thru-Hike of the Appalachian Trail (AT). With the memory of his friend Joe in mind, Daniel hiked over 2,160 miles, raising $11,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
In keeping with the tradition of a “Thru-Hike,” in 2004 Daniel decided to hike the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall in England – along with Thru-Hike Board Member Clive Marshall and his daughter Sophie, Tom Merkl, whom he met on the AT, and Joe’s step brother, Todd Conroy. This journey ended with an Oktoberfest fundraiser, adding more funds in the fight against Hodgkin Lymphoma.
In 2005, Thru-Hike took a big step in our fundraising efforts by hosting our first Hike-A-Thon in Morristown, NJ. With this event, we continued to raise more money to help fund a research project through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Of course we could not have done this without the help of our dedicated supporters.
The Hike-A-Thon was held on October 1, 2005 in Jockey Hollow National Park and we had a beautiful day for it. The event was followed by our traditional Oktoberfest celebration.
Thank you for your support during this journey.
Don't forget to follow your own dreams - you never know where the path will lead you!
