Left Hot Springs, NC today. What a great little town. Compact and perfect. Could live there. Next stop – Erwin.

Sitting a top Big Bald Mountain, TN – Easter Day. Taking it slow – formulating new ideas for my hike.

Left Erwin today – feel really strong. Hiking with “Night Fever”. It’s freezing tonight – low 30’s again. Can’t wait for the heat.

Pictures (14-15) are of me on top of Roan Mountain. The last 6000 ft. mountain before Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. What a climb – what a view. Staying at a barn connected into a shelter. Must be at least 20 hikers here running for shelter – storm on the way. Rain for the next few days – again. The views today were spectacular. From the top of Roan Mountain – to walking over several beautiful balds – chilling in pine forests – amazed by magic gardens – at rest in a barn with a view.
.
Surrounded by a bunch of college kids. All trying to out do each other with their humor. There is an age range out here. Retired folks who have always dreamt of a Trail hike – and recent college grads or drop outs. Haven’t met anyone my age. They’re all working perhaps. About 7 days away from Damascus, VA. Another state and about 500 miles under the belt. Feel good so far.

Remaining pictures on film are of Roan Mountain area of TN. Beautiful valleys and waterfalls. This is Hobbiton – the Shire. What amazing beauty. A place worth revisiting. Hiked all day with a Scottish chap named “Scotland”. Nice man. We’re camping by a beautiful river – wish I had more film. He buys and rents properties and has tons of freedom.
